Practice Description

Ricky A. Raven focuses his practice on civil litigation, toxic tort, products liability, personal injury, and white collar criminal defense. He has more than 20 years of experience in the resolution of complex litigation involving multiple plaintiffs and multiple defendants, as well as in handling single-party disputes, and he has first-chaired more than 100 jury trials to verdict. Mr. Raven's practice includes trial of cases to verdict and resolution of cases before trial. One of his trial verdicts, a wrongful death lawsuit in Jefferson County, Texas, was recognized by The National Law Journal as one of the top ten verdicts in the nation in 1998.

Representations

  • Conducted internal investigation regarding potential conflicts of interest during request for proposal process for largest investor owned water and waste water utility company in the U.S.

  • Represented one the largest trucking companies in the United States in a multiple fatality, wrongful death lawsuit in Jefferson County, Texas

  • Represented a large shopping center premises owner in a criminal investigation and prosecution for water pollution

  • Served as national coordinating counsel for a global chemical company in the defense of their personal watercraft product liability claims in North America

  • Served as member of national trial team for global manufacturing company in the defense of their asbestos claims

  • Represented a major chemical company in the defense of numerous personal injury claims by employees and contractors asserting alleged exposure to benzene in the workplace; these cases are and have been pending in state and federal court in Texas and Louisiana and involve claims for personal injury

  • Represented a major chemical company in claims by several workers alleging that various forms of leukemia were caused by workplace exposures

  • Participated in the defense of claims against a major chemical manufacturer arising from alleged exposure to solvents in the workplace

  • Represented a major chemical company in federal litigation in Texas arising under the Superfund statutes; these cases have involved all facets of Superfund litigation including issues relating to the selection of remedy, cost recovery, and contribution

  • Represented a major Canadian chemical company in the coordination of all product liability claims in North America

  • Represented major chemical companies in internal criminal investigations

  • Represented the State of Texas, as special prosecutor, in criminal matters involving organized criminal activity

  • Represented major chemical companies in alleged environmental pollution criminal matters
