Through the years, the Firm has engaged in a number of activities reflecting our commitment to community. We have built houses for Habitat for Humanity, organized clothing drives for victims of natural disasters, and participated in various fundraising activities for organizations such as United Way, Court Appointed Special Advocate Association (CASA), March of Dimes®, Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD)®, Leukemia & Lymphoma Society®, and Susan G. Komen for the Cure®.
Thompson & Knight funds academic scholarships of four graduating students from Booker T. Washington School for the Visual and Performing Arts, and we fund an internship at the Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law working with the Partner to Practice program.
For more than ten years, Thompson & Knight has partnered with the Dallas District Attorney’s Office by participating in the Lawyer on Loan Program. Through the program, an associate is sent to the DA’s office every quarter serving as a Deputy Assistant District Attorney, picking juries, and trying criminal cases in the Frank Crowley Courts Building.
In addition, we have numerous members of the Firm who hold volunteer leadership positions in community service organizations.
