Jane Brandt is Co-Chair of the Firm's Intellectual Property Practice Group. She has extensive experience in the representation of national and international clients in intellectual property disputes before federal trial and appellate courts, the International Trade Commission, and before arbitration panels. Jane's intellectual property practice includes patent validity and infringement, licensing, unfair competition, trademark and copyright, and trade secret disputes.

Jane is also Chair of the Firm's Information Management and E-Discovery Solutions Practice Group. She assists clients in establishing effective information management and document retention policies and complying with discovery obligations.

In addition to her intellectual property practice, Jane focuses on legal issues impacting the art industry.

According to clients quoted in IAM Patent 1000 2015, Jane is “extremely responsive,” “great on both offensive and defensive patent assignments,” and “knows the Federal Circuit inside and out.”


  • Represented a hardware storage manufacturer and one of its customers in proceedings before the U.S. International Trade Commission relating to bond pad technology and obtained initial and final determinations of no violation relating to the bond pad patent

  • Represented a computer technology manufacturer involving eight digital-audio and video-technology patents

  • Represented a hardware storage manufacturer in proceedings before the U.S. International Trade Commission relating to manufacture of semiconductor devices and obtained initial and final determinations of no violation relating to seven patents

  • Represented a storage, networking, and consumer electronics manufacturer in a patent litigation matter involving optical amplifier technology

  • Represented a computer technology manufacturer in a multi-patent lawsuit involving integrated circuit technology

  • Represented a bank and equipment manufacturer in patent litigation involving check scanning technology

  • Represented an international telecommunications network supplier in patent infringement disputes and in copyright infringement litigation

  • Represented a wireless telephone provider in patent infringement disputes

  • Represented a trucking company in a patent infringement dispute involving its computer software system

  • Represented a medical software company in a patent infringement dispute

  • Represented a major technology company in numerous patent infringement disputes, including a licensing dispute, upholding validity of cross-license on all of the patents held by a leading microchip manufacturer

  • Represented a major semiconductor manufacturer in patent infringement litigation resulting in a take-nothing judgment of noninfringement

  • Represented a major sporting equipment manufacturer in a theft of trade secrets and misappropriation of patent dispute

  • Represented a major technology company in a trademark matter, invalidating a registered trademark as generic

  • Represented buyers in the successful purchase of a sculpture created by an internationally-known artist
