T&K Assists Perenco with Peru Acquisition

New York - The global law firm of Thompson & Knight LLP served as outside legal counsel to Perenco, an oil and gas exploration and production company, in the company's purchase of Barrett Resources (Peru) LLC. Barrett currently holds oil and gas licenses in Peru. The future entity will be known as Perenco Peru Limited, and when development of the fields is completed, it is estimated that these fields will have the potential to produce up to 100,000 barrels of oil per day. Attorneys Marcello Hallake and Lillian P. Moya led the team that completed the transaction for Perenco.

Hallake is a Partner in the Firm's New York office and focuses his practice on the representation of U.S. and European companies, financial institutions, and investment funds in cross-border mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, privatizations, private equity, and other financing transactions in Latin America and around the globe. In addition, he represents Brazilian and other Latin American companies and financial institutions in U.S. financing and cross-border transactions.

Moya is an Associate in Thompson & Knight's New York office and focuses her practice on advising clients with all aspects of U.S. securities laws, including compliance with public disclosure and reporting requirements and broker-dealer regulation. Her practice also includes representing U.S. and foreign issuers and underwriters in securities offerings, including Rule 144A/Reg S debt offerings.

Perenco currently operates approximately 260,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day from its operations in 12 countries and has exploration projects in two additional countries. Once the development plan is finalized, this acquisition will substantially increase Perenco's reserves and production
