T&K Attorney Elected President of Texas Association of Defense Counsel

Dallas, Texas - At the Annual Meeting of the Texas Association of Defense Counsel ("TADC") held in Montreal, Canada, on October 2, 2009, Greg W. Curry, a Thompson & Knight Partner and Energy Litigation Practice Group Leader in the Firm's Dallas office, was named President of the organization for 2009-2010. Curry has served on a number of committees and leadership positions within the organization. TADC, founded in 1960, will celebrate its 50th anniversary in 2010.

Curry focuses his practice on general commercial, oil and gas, and environmental litigation matters. He has an active trial practice, having secured high-value settlements and judgments for plaintiffs and defending numerous complex cases with multimillion-dollar claims. He has represented clients in matters in Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, Arkansas, New Mexico, Minnesota, Ohio, Arizona, and Washington. He practices before federal and state trial and appellate courts, in federal bankruptcy courts, and before arbitration panels.

"I am very pleased and honored to begin serving in this role as President of TADC," said Curry. "I look forward to starting the next 50 years of TADC excellence and leadership, and I will do my best to ensure we continue to provide quality resources for our members as well as continuing our mission to preserve and improve the civil justice system."

In addition to his years of service with TADC, Curry is actively involved in numerous professional and civic organizations, including the Dallas Bar Association, DRI-The Voice of the Defense Bar, and Texas Tech Law School Foundation. He is a Fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation, Dallas Bar Foundation, and Litigation Counsel of America. At Thompson & Knight, he has previously served as Chair of the Pro Bono Committee, Chair of the New Business Intake and Conflicts Committee, and Marketing Partner, whereupon he received the "Marketing Partner of the Year" award from Marketing Partner Forum in 2006.

Curry has been recognized in The Best Lawyers in America® by Woodward/White Inc., Texas Super Lawyers® by Thomson Reuters, and Lawdragon 500 "Leading Lawyers in America" by Lawdragon Inc. He received a J.D., magna cum laude, from Texas Tech University School of Law in 1989 and a B.B.A. in Petroleum Land Management from the University of Oklahoma in 1983.

The TADC is an organization of Texas civil trial attorneys in private practice whose purpose is to bring together by association, communication, and organization, lawyers of Texas who devote a substantial amount of their professional time to the handling of litigated civil cases. TADC members must be in good standing with the State Bar of Texas; engaged in civil litigation/trial practice other than representing plaintiffs in personal injury cases; and not be a member of any plaintiff or claimant oriented association, group, or firm.
