Thompson & Knight has embraced sustainability as a basic tenet of excellence in our organization. By centering our business environment on an enduring model, we better serve our clients, communities, and employees. The Firm’s Sustainability Committee (the Committee) is led by Environmental Practice Leader Jim Morriss and includes attorneys and staff from all areas of the Firm. The Committee is tasked with assisting the Firm in achieving its sustainability goals.
As part of this initiative, Thompson & Knight has adopted the American Bar Association’s “Model Sustainability Policy and Implementation Guidelines for Law Organizations,” which includes, among other things, the reduction of our carbon footprint. We are implementing and measuring several of the Model Policy’s action items, as well as other steps, as they make sense financially and culturally within the different offices in our organization.
Thompson & Knight is a founding member of Keeping PACE in Texas
, a non-profit business association organized for the specific purpose of promoting legislation in Texas to facilitate Property Assessed Clean Energy (PACE) loans throughout the state. PACE is an innovative program that enables property owners to receive funding for energy efficiency retrofits and water conservation improvements. By bringing this program to Texas, our Texas-based clients will be eligible to receive numerous benefits through PACE financing, as well as significant energy savings in the future.
