T&K Expands Trial Practice

Dallas - Thompson & Knight LLP is pleased to announce Counsel Paul K. Stafford and Attorney Sydne K. Collier have joined the Firm’s Dallas office in the Trial Practice Group.

“Paul has tried over 200 cases, including criminal, civil, and white collar matters as a defense attorney and as a former Texas prosecutor,” said Greg W. Curry, the Firm’s Trial Practice Leader. “He has a wealth of litigation experience that will be an asset to our clients. We are pleased to welcome both Paul and Sydne to the Firm.”

Mr. Stafford focuses his practice on complex commercial and business litigation, insurance policyholder litigation, and white collar criminal litigation. From 1994 to 1998, he served as an Assistant District Attorney in Denton County, Texas, and then as an Assistant District Attorney in Dallas County, Texas. While in Dallas, he served as a felony prosecutor in the Organized Crime Division, trying numerous cases to conviction. During his career, Mr. Stafford has tried more than 100 civil jury trials, including various complex commercial litigation matters.

Mr. Stafford received a J.D. from Texas Tech University School of Law (1994) and a B.S. in Political Science with a minor in Economics from Texas A&M University (1990). While at Texas Tech, he was a founding member of the Black Law Students Association. Since 2002, Mr. Stafford has taught courses on Insurance Law, Trial Advocacy, and Interviewing and Counseling as an Adjunct Professor at his alma mater, Texas Tech University School of Law.

He is actively involved in professional organizations. For example, Mr. Stafford has served as the President of the J. L. Turner Legal Association (2002), a member of the Board of Trustees of the Dallas Bar Foundation (2005-2013), President of the Dallas Bar Association (2012), and a member of several State Bar of Texas committees. He also has authored and presented numerous articles, papers, and CLE presentations on insurance, e-discovery, and litigation.

Ms. Collier focuses her practice on litigation. She received her J.D. and MBA from Texas Tech University School of Law (2016) and a B.B.A. in International Business with a minor in French from Texas Tech University (2012).

Prior to joining Thompson & Knight, both lawyers practiced at Stafford Barrow, PLLC in Dallas. Mr. Stafford is licensed in Texas, as well as the United States District Courts for the Northern, Southern, Eastern, and Western Districts of Texas. Ms. Collier is licensed to practice in Texas.
