T&K Partner Elected to Bryan’s House Board of Directors

Dallas - Thompson & Knight LLP is pleased to announce Debra J. Villarreal has been elected as a member of the Board of Directors for Bryan’s House, a non-profit organization that provides medically-managed child care, respite care, and community-based, family-centered support services for children and their families. She will serve a three-year term beginning July 1, 2017.

Ms. Villarreal is a Partner in the Oil and Gas Practice Group of Thompson & Knight’s Dallas office. She counsels her clients to maximize gains while minimizing risks in joint ventures and the purchase and sale of oil and gas properties.  Her experience extends to all facets of the energy industry.

A frequent writer and speaker on oil and gas topics, she has presented on such topics as joint ventures and gas storage for both the Rocky Mountain Mineral Law Foundation and the Energy & Mineral Law Foundation.  Ms. Villarreal co-wrote the U.S. chapter of a book entitled China Going Global and presented a seminar on Chinese outbound investment in Beijing in conjunction with the launch of the book. In addition, she is actively involved in a number of organizations, including the North Texas Chapter of The Women’s Energy Network, of which she is a founding member, former President, and current Advisory Board Member.

Regularly recognized for her legal work, she has been named Dallas Oil & Gas Law “Lawyer of the Year” in The Best Lawyers in America® by Woodward/White Inc. (2014; 2017) and selected for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America (2010-2017). Ms. Villarreal has also been included in Best Lawyers in Dallas by D Magazine (2014, 2016-2017) and as Who’s Who in Energy by the Dallas Business Journal (2014).

Bryan’s House was founded at the peak of the HIV/AIDS crisis to care for children suffering from that dreaded, often fatal infection. Named for Bryan Allen, who at eight months old was one of the first Dallas-area children to die from AIDS, Bryan’s House has the capacity to serve more than 1,200 people a year. The organization provides services to comfort and support families in the Dallas community through medically managed care, respite care, and social services.
