Andrew B. Derman es el líder del Grupo de Practica Internacional de Energía y es Vicepresidente de Thompson & Knight Global Energy Services LLC,  empresa afiliada a Thompson & Knight LLP, la cual presta servicios de asesoría técnica, económica y comercial para el sector energético. Con énfasis en proyectos de inversión en petróleo y gas y transacciones internacionales, su enfoque está dar asesoría jurídica y comercial en adquisiciones, ventas, fusiones, asesoría estratégica de negocios y comercial; grandes proyectos de infraestructura, incluyendo GNL, GPL, refinerías; nacionalización/expropiación; prácticas anticorrupción (FCPA) y asesoría sobre sanciones; unitización; operaciones de exploración, desarrollo, y producción; negociaciones y resolución de disputas (litigio, arbitraje, testigo perito).

Andrew Derman ha asesorado a clientes en más de 50 países en seis continentes y ofrece a los clientes un entendimiento exhaustivo de las actividades de petróleo y gas por su experiencia en varios países y empresas.  La práctica de Andrew Derman se divide en asesoría jurídica tradicional (negociaciones y preparación de contratos) y asesoría sobre el desarrollo de negocios/comercial (identificación de oportunidades en el sector de petróleo y gas).

Andrew Derman ha sido maestro de derecho y conferencista en distintas conferencias, seminarios y universidades en temas relacionados con el petróleo y gas.  Por más de 20 años, ha dado la cátedra de contratos con gobiernos production and sharing agreements, licensing systems, service contracts, etc) y contratos comerciales (joint operating agreements, accounting procedures, confidentiality agreements, study and bidding agreements, unitization agreements, lifting agreements, etc.) en el Programa Avanzado de Administración Financiera de la Universidad de Texas en Dallas.

Andrew Derman tiene la Especialización de Petróleo, Gas y Leyes Minerales otorgada por el Comité de Especializaciones de la Barra de Texas.

Ha negociado y preparado múltiples contratos con gobiernos huéspedes, incluyendo contratos de participación en la producción, concesiones, prestación de servicios y asociaciones

Ha representado a varias empresas de petróleo y gas de todo tipo en sus actividades globales de adquisición, venta, comercio y fusiones

Ha negociado y preparado múltiples contratos sobre la relación con inversionistas, incluyendo contratos de operación, procedimientos contables, contratos de comisión de servicio, contratos, contratos de lifting, contratos de venta, contratos para estudios y  licitaciones, contratos para prestación de servicios, contratos de asesoría y contratos de unitización
