As much of environmental law is best practiced in a preventive manner, we place significant emphasis on client counseling and in developing close working relationships with our in-house legal and technical counterparts. Our practice includes environmental auditing in both the self-evaluative and transactional due diligence contexts, as well as counseling on the development of environmental policies and procedures. We provide compliance counseling to a diverse group of industrial clients, including companies in the airline, aircraft manufacturing and maintenance, agricultural products, cement manufacturing, hazardous waste recycling, lime manufacturing, organic chemical and plastics, petroleum refining, pharmaceuticals, primary steel production, and tile brick and ceramics industries.
One example of Thompson & Knight's proactive approach to environmental management issues is our role as both a member of and counsel to the United States Business Council for Sustainable Development. This organization of business leaders from U.S. industry promotes sustainable business practices and related policy initiatives. We are an active proponent of these projects and have assisted in the development of policy regarding sustainable development at both the state and national level.
