Client Alert: Mayweather-Pacquiao Claims Dismissed by California Court

On August 25, 2017, the United States District Court for the Central District of California (Los Angeles), in a multi-district litigation, dismissed all claims asserted by ticket holders, pay-per-view purchasers, and closed-circuit distributors in connection with the 2015 “Fight Of The Century” between Floyd Mayweather, Jr. and Manny Pacquiao.  The plaintiffs asserted that they were damaged by Pacquiao’s failure to disclose a serious shoulder injury, which impacted his ability to fight, and they would not have purchased their tickets, pay-per-view access, or closed-circuit distributorships had the injury been publicly disclosed prior to the plaintiffs’ purchasing decisions being made.
