David White Quoted on Insurance Aspects of Data Breaches

David White was quoted in a Houston Business Journal article discussing a recent lawsuit filed by Spec’s Family Partners regarding legal costs associated with a data breach and insurance fees. In the article, David states that “Insurance companies have become very good at covering the initial expenses a company has to pay when they’ve gotten hacked” and that “those expenses include customer notifications, legal costs, and computer forensic costs related to the data breach.” David also noted that  the insurance industry has difficulties is determining how to underwrite coverage for lost profits related to a data attack because the insurance actuaries have a hard time determining how to quantify business losses from cyber attacks.  To read the full article, click here.
