Andy Derman Quoted in Houston Business Journal on Mexico Energy Reform

“Mexican energy reform slows down after fast start”

Bidding is ongoing for Mexico’s first round of private energy investments in 76 years, but the process has begun to slow down after the rapid overhaul of the nation’s monopoly system.

Amid the current oil slump, the Mexican government has moved forward with bidding as expected, but a lot fewer blocks than anticipated are being put up for sale during the early bidding periods.

“They realized — although the process is moving fast — in some instances it’s moving too fast,” said Thompson & Knight LLP Partner Luis Gomar.
