Eight Thompson & Knight Attorneys Elected Fellows of the Texas Bar Foundation

DALLAS — The law firm of Thompson & Knight LLP is pleased to announce Amy R. Curtis, Sharon M. Fountain, Jessica Hammons, Timothy E. Hudson, Jeremiah Mayfield, Joseph S. Pevsner, Mark M. Sloan, and Michael W. Stockham have been elected to membership in the Fellows of the Texas Bar Foundation (“Foundation”). Fellows of the Foundation are selected for their outstanding professional achievements and their demonstrated commitment to the improvement of the justice system throughout the state of Texas. Election is a mark of distinction and recognition of contributions to the legal profession.

Ms. Curtis is a Partner in the Corporate and Securities Practice Group of the Firm’s Dallas office. Her practice focuses on mergers, acquisitions, and securities matters. She has been named to The Best Lawyers in America® 2019 by Woodward/White Inc. and Texas Super Lawyers® 2018 by Thomson Reuters. In addition to her involvement with the Texas Bar Foundation, Ms. Curtis is a member of the American and Dallas Bar Associations.

Ms. Fountain is Senior Counsel in the Tax Practice Group of the Firm’s Dallas office. She counsels employers, individuals, and fiduciaries in employee benefits, executive compensation, and stock and incentive programs. She has been named to The Best Lawyers in America® 2019 by Woodward/White Inc. and Texas Super Lawyers® 2018 by Thomson Reuters. In addition to her involvement with the Texas Bar Foundation, Ms. Fountain is a member of the American, Texas, and Dallas Bar Associations.

Ms. Hammons is a Partner in the Corporate and Securities Practice Group of the Firm’s Dallas office. She focuses her practice on securities matters, mergers, acquisitions, dispositions, and joint ventures, with a particular focus in the upstream and midstream energy sectors. She has been named to The Best Lawyers in America® 2019 by Woodward/White Inc. and Texas Super Lawyers® 2018 by Thomson Reuters and was named to D Magazine’s Best Lawyers Under 40 list for 2017. In addition to her involvement with the Texas Bar Foundation, Ms. Hammons is a member of the Texas and Dallas Bar Association.

Mr. Hudson is a Partner in the Trial Practice Group of the Firm’s Dallas office. He specializes in defending, preparing, and trying cases involving product liability, business litigation, and trade secrets before state and federal trial courts. He was recognized among the Top 100 Texas Up-and-Coming Attorneys (2018) in Texas Rising Stars® by Thomson Reuters, and was previously named to D Magazine’s Best Lawyers in Dallas. In addition to his involvement with the Texas Bar Foundation, Mr. Hudson is a member of the International Association of Defense Counsel, the Texas Association of Defense Counsel, and the American, Federal, and Dallas Bar Associations.

Mr. Mayfield is a Partner in the Corporate and Securities Practice Group of the Firm’s Dallas office. He focuses his practice on corporate and securities matters, including private equity fund formations, mergers, acquisitions, dispositions, and joint ventures along with  general corporate, partnership, limited liability company, and contract matters. He was named to Texas Rising Stars® by Thomson Reuters (2018) and is a Member of the Dallas Bar Association and Young Professionals in Energy (YPE).

Mr. Pevsner is a Partner in the Trial Practice Group of the Firm’s Dallas office. He has more than 35 years of experience in products liability, business litigation, real estate, and construction cases before state and federal trial and appellate courts. He has been named to The Best Lawyers in America® (2009-2019) by Woodward/White Inc. and Texas Super Lawyers® (2003, 2010-2018) by Thomson Reuters. Mr. Pevsner served as Chair of TK’s Trial Practice Group from 2008 to 2014. In addition to his involvement with the Texas Bar Foundation, he is a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation and a Fellow of the Litigation Counsel of America. He has started more than 75 trials in Texas, California, Ohio, and other states.

Mr. Sloan serves as Thompson & Knight’s Managing Partner, overseeing more than 300 attorneys and 250 legal support and administrative staff members and serving as Chairman of the Firm’s Management Committee. He has nearly 30 years of experience advising clients on various types of real estate finance transactions, real estate acquisitions, dispositions, and real estate development. He was named Dallas Real Estate Law “Lawyer of the Year” by The Best Lawyers in America® 2019 by Woodward/White Inc. and was named one of the Most Influential leaders in North Texas by D CEO – The Dallas 500 (2019). In addition to his involvement with the Texas Bar Foundation, Mr. Sloan is a member of the American and Dallas Bar Associations and serves on the Board of Directors for Goodwill Industries of Dallas.

Mr. Stockham is a Partner in the Trial Practice Group of the Firm’s Dallas office. He focuses his practice on corporate governance, corporate compliance, fraud and breach of fiduciary duty, shareholder rights, securities fraud (including 10b-5, Section 11, Texas Securities Act), class actions, merger litigation, partnership and corporate disputes, qui tam litigation defense, and white collar defense for companies and individual executives. He has been named to The Best Lawyers in America® 2019 by Woodward/White Inc. and Texas Super Lawyers® 2018 by Thomson Reuters and is a Certified Fraud Examiner, certified by the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners. Selection as a Fellow of the Foundation is restricted to members of the State Bar of Texas. Each year one-third of one percent of State Bar members are invited to become Fellows. Once nominees are selected, they must be elected by the Foundation Board of Trustees. The Foundation is the largest charitably funded bar foundation in the country. Founded in 1965 by lawyers determined to assist the public and improve the profession of law, the Foundation has maintained its mission of using the financial contributions of its membership to build a strong justice system for all Texans. To date, the Foundation has distributed more than $20 million throughout Texas to assist nonprofit organizations with a wide range of justice-related programs and services.
