“Fieldwood Energy E&P Signs Drilling Contract with Mexico”
Today’s collapsing crude prices and the current shaky U.S. stock market are not slowing down Fieldwood Energy’s move to Mexico to seek oil and gas in the country’s shallow water fields. Looking for long-term opportunities versus a quick return on investment, Houston-based Fieldwood may well be the new face of the Texas energy sector.
The following attorneys with the firm of Thompson & Knight represented Fieldwood in connection with the deal: Gabriel Ruiz, a partner in Monterrey, Mexico; Luis Gomar, a partner in Dallas; John Cohn, the tax practice leader in Dallas; Maria Luisa Licon, an associate in Monterrey, Mexico; and Homero Gonzalez, an associate in Mexico City. None of these attorneys returned a call for comment.
As well, Thomas Lamme, Assistant General Counsel for Fieldwood Energy, worked on the deal. He was not available for comment.
