“Texas Firms Not Seeing the Benefits of Subsidiary Boutique Model”

Texas law firm leaders could see the appeal of a St. Louis firm’s recent decision to start a wholly owned subsidiary to handle fixed-fee estates work, but they said they are unlikely to follow such a unique model anytime soon given cultural and financial concerns.

Mark Sloan, managing partner of Dallas-based Thompson & Knight, said he’s always open to new ideas, but “this isn’t something that would be at the top of my agenda right now.”
