“FAA, drone operator settle suit over commercial flyover”

The Federal Aviation Administration has settled a suit with the operator of an unmanned aircraft system, or drone, following his flight over the University of Virginia in 2011.

Richard Wynne, a partner at Thompson & Knight, said the settlement ends a dispute that was a distraction from the FAA’s efforts to stop commercial use of UAS, except those that receive the agency’s approval.
