Rodolfo Rueda Quoted in El Financiero on Trials in Absence of Agreements in Energy Sector

“Lawsuits and claims against Q4 anticipated if there is no energy agreement with the US”

Republican and Democratic congressmen from the United States asked President Donald Trump last Friday to seek an agreement with the Mexican Government to maintain the rules of the energy sector and provide certainty and equity to investors.

…For his part, Rodolfo Rueda, vice president of the Energy Commission of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) and senior advisor at Thompson & Knight, explained that Chapter 11 of the T-MEC establishes arbitration regimes where investments are protected foreign.

“In a certain way, these estrangements (the changes to the regulations) may be the prelude to a little more demanding mechanisms that may have an important impact on arbitration issues,” he said.
