Thompson & Knight Assists Retail Developer in Financing Construction of a Major Shopping Center in Mexico

DALLAS — The law firm of Thompson & Knight LLP has secured a series of financing agreements to support the development of a 2,505,838 square foot shopping center in Tijuana, Baja California.

Alejandro F. Sánchez Mújica and Alejandro A. Sánchez M. A. of the Firm’s Monterrey office acted as lead counsels in the negotiation of an investment agreement with Liverpool, which operates the largest chain of department stores in Mexico, and in securing mezzanine financing with a multi-asset class real estate private equity fund in Mexico. The total investment for the shopping center, designed by Jerde Partnership, is expected to reach $2.4 billion pesos.

Additionally, the Thompson & Knight team assisted the developer in the execution of a loan agreement with Banco Mercantil del Norte, S.A., Institución de Banca Múltiple, Grupo Financiero Banorte (BANORTE) for an aggregate amount of up to $1.3 billion pesos.
