DALLAS — The law firm of Thompson & Knight is pleased to announce John H. Martin and Timothy E. Hudson, attorneys in the Firm’s Dallas office, have been recognized in Texas Lawyer’s 2019 Professional Excellence Awards. The publication’s annual list honors lawyers who have made significant contributions to the legal profession in Texas and beyond.
Mr. Martin, Of Counsel in the Firm’s Trial Practice Group, is among seven recipients of the Lifetime Achievement Award. He focuses his practice on mass tort and catastrophic injury, aviation, pharmaceutical, professional liability, and general commercial litigation. Mr. Martin has held numerous leadership positions in professional organizations during his distinguished career, including President of DRI-The Voice of the Defense Bar, an international organization of defense lawyers and corporate counsel. He has also served as President of the Texas Association of Defense Counsel, Lawyers for Civil Justice, and the National Foundation for Judicial Excellence, all organizations dedicated to improving the civil justice system. Mr. Martin received his J.D., with honors, from The University of Texas School of Law and his B.A. from Vanderbilt University.
Mr. Hudson, a Partner in the Firm’s Trial Practice Group, is one of four Texas attorneys honored as Best Mentors for guiding and supporting young attorneys within their own firms and the profession. He focuses his practice on defending, preparing, and trying cases involving product liability, business litigation, and trade secrets. He has been recognized by numerous publications for his outstanding legal work, including D Magazine’s “Best Lawyers in Dallas,” Texas Rising Stars® by Thomson Reuters, and Benchmark: Litigation, The Definitive Guide to America’s Leading Firms and Attorneys. He is an active member of the Texas Association of Defense Counsel and the International Association of Defense Counsel, and a Fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation. Mr. Hudson currently serves as the Chair of the Firm’s Lawyer Development Committee, where he leads a committee focused on Firm-wide Associate training and development, Partner feedback, and Associate-focused Firm policies. He works directly with management to develop and implement initiatives that serve to better the Associate experience at the Firm.
