Dallas – Attorneys with the law firm of Thompson & Knight LLP represented Dallas-based Dunhill Partners (“Dunhill”) in its acquisition of 32.4 acres of land and approximately 693,751 square feet of retail, restaurants, and showroom/trade buildings in Dallas’ Design District from the Houston-based investor, Lionstone Group.
Partners Mark M. Sloan and Benjamin F.S. Herd led a team of Thompson & Knight attorneys from the Firm’s Dallas and New York offices, including Brian A. Bolton, Katharine Battaia Clark, Todd D. Keator, Demetra L. Liggins, Robert H. Saunders, Lauralee Strange, and Matthew H. Swerdlow.
Thompson & Knight advised Dunhill on its acquisition of the Design District properties and the related financing by way of a senior bridge and junior mezzanine loan. From the initial letter of intent through the funding of the loan and closing of escrow, the Firm counseled Dunhill on all corporate, real estate, and tax aspects of the transaction.
The neighborhood is seeing a huge real estate boom, with new restaurants, apartment towers and retail. Dunhill plans to market the buildings that form the heart of the district to high-end designers and other tenants and eventually redevelop some of the property for high-rise construction. The company intends to find ways to upgrade the existing properties and make plans for further construction.
Dunhill is a commercial real estate brokerage and investment firm that currently owns and manages more than 4 million square feet of retail commercial property. Dunhill specializes in the acquisition, sale, leasing, and management of commercial real estate, and is dedicated to the fundamental principle of building value.
