T&K Advises Yorktown Energy Partners in $90M Ramaco Development Investment

Dallas – Attorneys with the law firm of Thompson & Knight LLP advised Yorktown Energy Partners XI, L.P. (“Yorktown”) in a $90 million convertible preferred equity investment with Energy Capital Partners Mezzanine, LLC (“ECP”) in metallurgical coal miner, Ramaco Development, LLC (“Ramaco”). Yorktown is Ramaco’s founding sponsor.

The Thompson & Knight team advising Yorktown was led by Ann Marie Cowdrey and included Roger D. Aksamit, Joe Dannenmaier, James W. McKellar, and Christina Collins Sanders.

Ramaco plans to utilize the investment in its metallurgical platform to commence infrastructure development and mining at its properties, which will reach an anticipated production level of almost 4 million tons over the next several years. Ramaco was formed in 2011 by two longtime energy and coal executives in partnership with Yorktown.

Yorktown has raised 11 private equity funds over the past three decades totaling $8 billion in capital commitments. The fund has primarily invested in oil and gas production and midstream properties.
