Dallas – The law firm of Thompson & Knight LLP is pleased to announce Katherine L. Coleman has been elected President-Elect of the Public Utility Law Section of the State Bar of Texas (“SBOT”). She will serve a one-year term, which began September 4, 2015.
Coleman is an Associate in the Government and Regulatory Practice Group of the Firm’s Austin office where she focuses her practice on regulatory and administrative law, with emphasis on state and federal energy regulations, energy markets, energy litigation, and government affairs and appeals. Her significant experience with the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (“ERCOT”) allows her to provide clients with practical solutions to complicated matters involving the ERCOT protocols that govern wholesale market participation. Katie also routinely assists companies in contracting and infrastructure projects, including structuring energy agreements, joint ownership agreements for privately owned electrical facilities, energy supply agreements, and cogeneration agreements. She also has expertise in administrative law matters involving rulemakings and disputes before the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts and the Texas Racing Commission.
Coleman has been named an “Associate to Watch” by the prestigious Chambers USA by Chambers & Partners (2015), which notes that she “gains widespread market recognition.”
