Dallas – The law firm of Thompson & Knight LLP is pleased to announce Jessica S. Morrison has been appointed to the Fort Worth Community Development Council (“the Council”) by the Fort Worth City Council. She will serve a two-year term.
Ms. Morrison is an Associate in the Tax Practice Group of Thompson & Knight’s Fort Worth office, and focuses her practice on employee benefits, executive compensation, and taxation. She counsels employers and fiduciaries on tax and ERISA issues relating to the design and administration of qualified and nonqualified deferred compensation programs and welfare benefit plans. Recognized for her legal work, Ms. Morrison has been selected for inclusion in Texas Rising Stars® by Thomson Reuters (2017) and “Top Attorneys” by Fort Worth, Texas magazine (2014, 2016).
In addition to her leadership role on the Council, she is an active participant in professional and charitable organizations. Ms. Morrison is a member of the Tax Section of the State Bar of Texas; the Women Attorneys Section of the Tarrant County Bar Association; the Tarrant County Young Lawyers Association; Worldwide Employee Benefits Network; and the Fort Worth Human Resource Management Association. She also serves as the Board Governance Chair of the Board of Directors for The Parenting Center and as a member of the Cool Night Event Committee for The WARM Place.
The Council assists the Fort Worth City Council in setting priorities for projects to be initiated with federal funding and complying with federal grant requirements and limitations of the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development. The Council reviews proposed federal projects for community development and makes recommendations to the Fort Worth City Council with the goal of providing decent, safe, and sanitary housing for low and moderate income families in Fort Worth.
