Dallas – Thompson & Knight LLP congratulates Frank Finn as a recipient of the “Texas Trial Legends” award for the Tort and Insurance Practice by the Dallas Bar Association. Mr. Finn was inducted yesterday at the Belo Mansion. He also participated in a panel discussion focused on the qualities of an excellent trial lawyer, dramatic moments in the courtroom, and the value of the jury system in trying complex litigation. He is one of only four distinguished trial attorneys to receive this honor for 2017.
Mr. Finn attended the University of Notre Dame from which he received a B.A. in Economics in 1949. He was awarded the Dome Award as “Man of the Year” (1948-1949) by the University of Notre Dame, and in 1959 he received the “Man of the Year” award from the Notre Dame Club of Dallas. Following graduation from the University of Notre Dame, Mr. Finn spent four years with the Federal Bureau of Investigation in Washington, D.C., and the United States Signal Corp. – United States Army.
Today, Mr. Finn is Of Counsel in the Firm’s Trial Practice Group. Since 1956, he has practiced law with distinction, virtue, and respect. Over the span of his career, he has represented a multitude of clients in all aspects of civil litigation, focusing on business disputes, product liability, personal injury, intellectual property, white collar criminal defense, and family law. In his more than 60 years of practice, Mr. Finn has represented almost every insurance carrier in America.
Recognized for his legal expertise, he has been named one of The Best Lawyers in America® since 1993 and is a Fellow of the Dallas Bar Foundation. In 2011, he received the Honorary Serjeants of the Inn Award from the Judge Paul Brown Inn of Court. He has been involved in a multitude of legal and professional organizations, including the Dallas Bar Association, American Bar Association, Texas Center for the Judiciary, and Center for American and International Law.
Knowing the importance of giving back to his community, Mr. Finn served as a legal advisor for St. Rita Parish and School, Jesuit College Preparatory School, Texans United for Life, and Legislation for Life, as well as a Board Member for St. Rita School and the Notre Dame Club of Dallas for many years. Mr. Finn has been honored numerous times for his community involvement. For example, he received the 2013 William Roper Award from the St. Thomas More Society, the Diocese of Dallas Catholic Lawyers’ Guild, which is given to a local attorney or judge whose public and private life reflects and perpetuates the legacy of Thomas More.
At 88 years old, Mr. Finn still is in his office daily, determined to provide the same first-rate client service he’s provided throughout his distinguished career.
