“Fraudster In $23M Investment Scheme Can’t Lose Receiver”
A Texas federal judge on Wednesday refused to dissolve a receivership order and a preliminary injunction against a company and its owner alleged to have run a $23 million investment scheme, saying there was no evidence of changed circumstances or additional facts.
The same day the SEC filed its complaint, U.S. District Judge Amos L. Mazzant granted the agency’s request to appoint Jennifer R. Ecklund of Thompson & Knight LLP as receiver over Bryant and BUCF. The court also signed off on requests to freeze the assets of Bryant and BUCF, to restrain them from further securities fraud violations and to prohibit them from tampering with financial records and other documents.
The receiver is represented by Timothy E. Hudson, Katharine Battaia Clark, Bill Banowsky and Mackenzie S. Wallace of Thompson & Knight LLP.
