Dallas – Thompson & Knight LLP has awarded its fifth annual Thompson & Knight Law Preview Scholarships to five diverse students. The 2016 scholarship recipients Nida Din, Gloria Jauregui, Michele Jensen, Russell Tobias, and Yakun “Marianne” Xu will enter the University of Houston Law Center this fall.
“The Law Preview program supports our ongoing commitment to broadening the pipeline of diverse individuals in the legal profession and supporting law students of diverse backgrounds,” Nichole Dotson-Olajuwon, the Firm’s Chief Diversity Officer.
To be eligible for a Thompson & Knight Law Preview Scholarship, applicants must be enrolled to begin classes at University of Houston Law Center in the fall and a member of a racial, ethnic, or gender group that is historically underrepresented in the legal profession or a member of the LGBT community.
Scholarship recipients attend a six-day, intensive Law Preview prep course taught by distinguished faculty that helps students prepare for the first year of law school. During the course, students receive overviews for each core first-year course and learn efficient study skills, unique exam-taking methods, and time management techniques. Courses are offered in various areas of study including civil procedure, constitutional law, contracts, criminal law, property, torts, and legal research and writing. For more information, click here.
