Dallas – Thompson & Knight LLP has awarded its sixth annual Thompson & Knight Law Preview Scholarships to five diverse students. The 2017 scholarship recipients are Anastasia Bolshakov, Heather Davis, Natalie Diala, Kristen Dorton, and Zaina Hussein. All of the recipients will enter the University of Houston Law Center this fall.
“Through our Law Preview scholarships we help equip these students for success in law school and help them take one step closer toward achieving their dream of becoming a lawyer,” said Nichole Dotson-Olajuwon, the Firm’s Chief Diversity Officer. “In addition, the program underscores our commitment to increasing the number of diverse individuals in the legal profession.”
To be eligible for a Thompson & Knight Law Preview Scholarship, applicants must be enrolled to begin classes at University of Houston Law Center in the fall and a member of a racial, ethnic, or gender group that is historically underrepresented in the legal profession or a member of the LGBT community.
Scholarship recipients attend a six-day, intensive Law Preview prep course taught by distinguished faculty that helps students prepare for the first year of law school. During the course, students receive overviews for each core first-year course and learn efficient study skills, unique exam-taking methods, and time management techniques. Courses are offered in various areas of study including civil procedure, constitutional law, contracts, criminal law, property, torts, and legal research and writing.
