Dallas – On June 23, the law firm of Thompson & Knight LLP hosted its annual Trial Academy at the Frank Crowley Courthouse in Dallas. Designed to provide meaningful and practical trial experience, the event included more than 30 students from Dallas Independent School District (“DISD”), Richardson Independent School District (“RISD”), and University of North Texas College of Law (“UNT”), in addition to Thompson & Knight Associates, Summer Associates, Partners, Paralegals, and other staff members.
“Our annual Trial Academy offers our Associates and Summer Associates the opportunity to hone their litigation skills in a unique, daylong trial that provides hands-on training,” said Greg W. Curry, Thompson & Knight’s Trial Practice Leader. “In addition to educating our junior lawyers, the experience also encourages participating law and high school students to pursue a career in the legal industry.”
Students from James Madison High School, Lincoln High School, Lake Highlands High School, and UNT Dallas College of Law as well as other community members acted as witnesses for the six fictional trials involving fraud claims. Thompson & Knight Associates and Summer Associates acted as attorneys and expert witnesses, while Senior Associates and Partners served as mentors and judges.
