“Harvey’s Floodwaters Shutter Houston Law Offices, Courts”
The historic flooding from Hurricane Harvey that has killed at least eight people and displaced thousands has also forced courthouses and law firms in Houston to close their doors, with some offices in what’s normally one of the state’s busiest legal markets likely to remain closed through the week as more dangerous weather is expected.
Porter Hedges LLP was closed Monday, and Andrews Kurth Kenyon LLP also closed its offices in Houston and The Woodlands on Monday and Tuesday, and allowed employees to work from home. Thompson & Knight LLP and Winston & Strawn LLP are closed through at least Wednesday. Norton Rose Fulbright’s managing partner, Daryl Lansdale, told Law360 on Monday that the firm will be closed at least through Tuesday.
