T&K Partner Among Texas Lawyer’s 2016 Women in Energy

Dallas – Thompson & Knight LLP is pleased to announce Partner Jolisa Melton Dobbs has been named an honoree of Texas Lawyer’s 2016 Women in Energy awards. Honorees are recognized for their work in the area of energy law. The women will be recognized for their achievements in this practice area in the December issue of Texas Lawyer magazine and at an event held in their honor today at the Magnolia Hotel in Houston.

Ms. Dobbs is an Oil and Gas Partner in the Firm’s Dallas office. She is an experienced oil and gas attorney who concentrates on oil and gas acquisition and disposition transactions throughout all oil and gas plays – including the Eagle Ford, Barnett, Haynesville, and Marcellus. Her background as an internal auditor for a major oil and gas company and as a Certified Public Accountant gives her an edge in assessing, understanding, and allocating various risks associated with oil and gas properties. In addition, she counsels clients in the areas of oil and gas secured lending, joint venture and development arrangements, and the acquisitions and dispositions of natural resources companies. Ms. Dobbs also has expertise in oil and gas title due diligence in acquisitions of properties, and she regularly advises clients regarding exploration and production activities. 

She is consistently recognized for her skills in a diverse range of oil, gas, and energy matters. Ms. Dobbs was selected for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America® by Woodward/White Inc. (2016-2017), Texas Super Lawyers® by Thomson Reuters (2013-2014), Who’s Who Legal: Energy by Law Business Research Limited (2014-2016), and as a “Recommended Attorney” by The Legal 500 US by Legalese (2015). In addition, she is a frequent lecturer at conferences and seminars, and publisher of articles in prestigious industry journals, on oil and gas related topics.

Ms. Dobbs is actively involved in numerous legal and professional organizations. She currently serves as Treasurer of the Rocky Mountain Mineral Law Foundation and has served as a trustee, executive committee member, and scholarship committee chair of the organization. Also, she is a member of the American, Texas, and Dallas Bar Associations; and a member of the Energy Editorial Advisory Board for Law360.
