Dallas – The law firm of Thompson & Knight LLP is pleased to announce that Richard B. Phillips, Jr. has been elected Treasurer of the Dallas Bar Association (“DBA”) Appellate Section. He will serve a one-year term beginning January 1, 2015.
Phillips is a Partner in the Trial Practice Group of Thompson & Knight’s Dallas office, and focuses his practice on appellate matters. He has represented a variety of clients in appeals before Texas courts of appeal, the Texas Supreme Court, the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, and the United States Supreme Court. He has orally argued cases in multiple appellate courts in Texas. Phillips provides trial support and assists clients in evaluating potential appellate issues. Additionally, he maintains a trial docket focused on commercial disputes. He is Board Certified in Civil Appellate Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization.
In addition to his role with the DBA Appellate Section, Phillips is a founder of and contributor to the Texas Appellate Watch blog, an associate editor of The Appellate Advocate, published by the Appellate Section of the State Bar of Texas, and a member of the Amicus Curiae Committee of the Texas Association of Defense Counsel. He has been selected for inclusion in Texas Super Lawyers® by Thomson Reuters (2013-2014) and Texas Rising Stars® by Thomson Reuters (2007-2013).
