“Don’t Miss It: Hot Deals & Firms We’re Following This Week”

With so much mergers and acquisitions news this week, you may have missed several deals announced in the last several days, helmed by firms such as Thompson & Knight LLP and Ropes & Gray LLP.

Encap Flatrock Midstream, with help from legal adviser Thompson & Knight LLP, has closed its latest oversubscribed fund after collecting $3.25 billion from investors, the firm said on Thursday.

The fund, EnCap Flatrock Midstream Fund IV LP, surpassed its original $3 billion target in roughly six months of fundraising, according to a statement. EnCap Flatrock’s previous fund reached $3 billion before closing in the spring of 2014.

EnCap Flatrock was formed in 2008 via a partnership between EnCap Investments LP and Flatrock Energy Advisors LLC. The firm directs the capital it raises from investors to management teams in the midstream sector of the North American energy industry. With the closing of Fund IV, EnCap Flatrock has now raised a total of almost $9 billion across its funds from upward of 300 limited partners.

Headquartered in San Antonio, Texas, EnCap Flatrock has additional offices in Houston and Oklahoma City.

The Thompson & Knight team was led by corporate and securities partner Michael K. Pierce (Houston) and included corporate and securities partners Anna Marie Dempsey and Mitch Gibbons (both Houston), tax partners Roger D. Aksamit (Houston) and Todd Keator (Dallas), ERISA partner Jason Loden (Dallas) and environmental partner Jim Morriss (Austin).
