Ms. Brandt is Co-Chair of the Intellectual Property Practice Group. She represents national and international clients in intellectual property disputes before federal trial and appellate courts, the International Trade Commission, and before arbitration panels. Her practice includes patent validity and infringement, licensing, unfair competition, trademark and copyright, trade secret disputes, and document retention. In addition to her intellectual property practice, Ms. Brandt focuses on legal issues impacting the art industry.
She has been recognized by numerous publications for her outstanding legal work, including The Best Lawyers in America® by Woodward/White Inc. (2010-2015) and Texas Super Lawyers® by Thomson Reuters (2006-2014), and IAM Patent 1000 (2013-2014). She is a member of the Sedona Conference Working Group 10 on Best Practices in Patent Litigation, and is actively involved in several professional organizations, including the Dallas Bar Association, Dallas Bar Foundation, Texas Bar Foundation, and DRI-The Voice of the Defense Bar.
Mr. Sostek is Co-Chair of Thompson & Knight’s Intellectual Property Practice Group. His principal focus is on patent litigation, with an emphasis in telecommunications, microelectronics, and oil and gas technology; he also handles complex commercial litigation matters; and counsels clients on strategic uses for intellectual property. He has tried cases involving patent, trademark, and copyright infringement; theft of trade secrets; unfair competition; and related intellectual property issues in federal courts throughout the country and at the International Trade Commission. Mr. Sostek also acts as an arbitrator and mediator of IP issues and counsels clients on the identification, valuation, licensing, and litigation of IP assets and how to use IP to advance strategic business objectives.
Mr. Sostek is an Adjunct Professor of Law at Southern Methodist University School of Law, where he teaches patent litigation, and is a regular speaker and author on a variety of intellectual property topics. He is a member of the American College of Trial Lawyers, was named the 2014 Dallas Technology Law “Lawyer of the Year,” and is regularly listed in Chambers USA “Leaders in Their Field” (2004-present), Texas Super Lawyers® (2003-present), IAM Patent 1000 (2012-2014), and as a Best Lawyer in Dallas by D Magazine (2003, 2005, 2007-present).
