Dallas – The law firm of Thompson & Knight LLP has been recognized in World Tax 2016 by International Tax Review, a directory of the leading tax advisory firms around the world. The Firm’s Dallas and Houston offices are highlighted in the tier two ranking, and Emily A. Parker, the Firm’s Managing Partner, is named as a Tax Controversy Leader.
The directory recognizes the Firm for having a tax department with an international network and leading reputation in its jurisdiction, and for its expertise in the areas of tax planning and compliance, tax audits, administrative appeals and proceedings, and in litigation in federal and state courts. The firm also is noted for being “an active participant in the energy industry, and hold[ing] a strong reputation in the taxation of natural resources, partnerships, international joint ventures, and other energy industry-related transactions.”
To determine the rankings, International Tax Review researchers interviewed corporate tax directors and advisers to compile the tiers of leading firms and write the commentaries for 56 jurisdictions in World Tax 2016. The researchers asked the executives questions on an anonymous basis about the quality of advice received, opinions about teams and individual advisers, and what their advisers did well or badly. Firms can not pay to be included in the tiers.
World Tax is a key resource for tax executives. Each edition rates the tax expertise offered in more than 50 jurisdictions globally, giving tax executives the most comprehensive information about the market for tax advice. The publication is unique among directories as it classifies professional services, law firms, and other tax advice providers together, rather than looking at them separately.
