Dallas – The law firm of Thompson & Knight LLP has been recognized in World Tax 2017 by International Tax Review (“ITR”), a directory of the leading tax advisory firms around the world. The Firm’s Dallas and Houston offices received the tier two ranking.

The directory says the Firm’s “key areas of strength include domestic oil and gas tax and litigation, international transactional planning and structuring, compliance, audits, and litigation, estate planning for wealthy U.S. families and foreign nationals, and sophisticated planning techniques for non-profit organizations.” The Firm’s Dallas office is highlighted for its “traditional focus on litigation” which is noted as “remain[ing] strong, with more than a quarter of its practitioners engaged in trial and appellate work.” Thompson & Knight Tax Practice Leader John R. Cohn is recognized for his work assisting “multinational corporations, national oil companies, small businesses, and individuals in developing and implementing tax-efficient international business structures.”  The directory also notes “his expertise includes tax and transactional counsel on Latin American, African, and Asian energy projects.”

To determine the rankings, ITR researchers interviewed corporate tax directors and advisers to compile the tiers of leading firms. The researchers asked the executives questions on an anonymous basis. Firms can not pay to be included in the tiers. For more information, visit http://www.itrworldtax.com/.

Recently, ITR also recognized Partners Mary A. McNulty and Emily A. Parker in Women in Tax Leaders Guide as two of the leading female tax practitioners from more than 25 countries around the world; and Emily Parker in Tax Controversy Leaders as a leading practitioner in her jurisdiction.
