T&K Welcomes Former FERC Attorney to Government and Regulatory Practice

Dallas – Thompson & Knight LLP today announced Counsel Nicolas A. McTyre has joined the Firm’s Austin office in the Government and Regulatory Practice Group.

“Nicolas’ experience at FERC will complement our depth of experience in electricity regulatory matters, power markets, pipelines, project development issues, and in other related energy matters,” said Phillip G. Oldham, Thompson & Knight’s Government and Regulatory Practice Leader. “We are pleased to have him join our team.”

Mr. McTyre focuses his practice on litigation, administrative law, and energy matters. Prior to joining Thompson & Knight, Mr. McTyre served for five years as a trial attorney for the Office of Administrative Litigation for the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (“FERC”) in Washington, D.C. In his role at FERC, he gained extensive experience in contested proceedings before FERC, including electric rate and market regulation and pipeline matters.

In addition, he was a Law Clerk for the Office of Hearing and Appeals for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (2012) and a Legal Intern for the Honorable Ursula Ungaro – U.S. District Court of the Southern District of Florida (2011).

Actively involved in the Energy Bar Association, Mr. McTyre serves as the Vice Chair of the Young Lawyers Council (2017-2018). He received a J.D., magna cum laude, from the University of Miami Law School (2012) and a B.A. in Economics and Politics from the University of Virginia (2007). He is admitted to practice in Virginia, and his admission to the State Bar of Texas is pending.
