Alix Allison focuses her practice on oil and gas litigation. Her experience includes contract disputes, lease termination and trespass to try title suits, and royalty litigation. She has also represented clients before both state and federal courts in a variety of matters involving complex commercial disputes in a variety of industries.

Representative Matters

  • Represented BP as second chair in the retrial of BP America v. Laddex, 513 S.W.3d 476, following BP’s successful appeal to the Texas Supreme Court; in the original trial in 2013, a different firm represented BP, and the jury unanimously found that BP’s lease had terminated for failure to turn a profit; BP hired Thompson & Knight for the 2019 retrial in Roberts County, and received a defense verdict when the jury unanimously determined that BP’s lease produced in paying quantities
  • Prevailed on summary judgment on the eve of trial for the primary defendant, a Fort Worth-based oil and gas company, in a 4,000 gross mineral acres, multi-section lease termination dispute in Loving County, Texas
  • Representing a Texas-based oil and gas company in a multi-section lease termination dispute in the Midland Basin
  • Representing an oil and gas company in a lease termination suit in the Delaware Basin
  • Representing an oilfield services company in defense of federal employment claims
  • Representing a large mineral management company in royalty payment claims
  • Represented an international oil and gas company in a suit against multiple attorneys general
  • Represented a large gaming company in a contractual dispute
  • Represented an automotive products developer in a trademark infringement suit
  • Represented several Fort Worth-based hospitals in healthcare litigation matters
