George Chapman focuses his practice on general and commercial litigation, complex litigation, probate litigation, eminent domain litigation, and arbitration.

Representative Matters

  • Represented City of Arlington in real property acquisition for Dallas Cowboys Stadium
  • Represented Highland Park Independent School District in condemning numerous tracts for the McCullough Middle School; in a jury trial following appeal of the Commissioner’s Award, the jury found for the school district, and the court ordered the property owner to return money to the school district
  • Represented property owners in the settlement of several suits brought by entities with eminent domain power
  • Represented a manufacturer in trade secret litigation where multimillion dollar claims were made for misappropriation of confidential and proprietary information; the matter was settled for a modest amount
  • Represented three cardiologists in defending claims of conspiracy, antitrust, and interference with a contractual relationship; summary judgment was subsequently affirmed by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit
  • Represented trustees of a charity and major hospitals and their executives in a multimillion-dollar suit alleging conspiracy, interference with contractual relationships, and antitrust claims; summary judgment was affirmed by the Texas Supreme Court’s denial of a Petition for Review
  • Obtained summary judgment for a major manufacturer in a class action suit in which plaintiff was seeking certification of a class of owners of home gas heaters throughout the United States and Canada
  • Obtained summary judgment in consolidated suits for declaratory judgment involving alleged breach of a real estate contract
  • Court of Appeals reversed a trial court judgment granting injunctive relief against a professional association
  • Represented a law school foundation in a trial seeking a declaratory judgment in the probate court; after taking the matter under advisement and requesting briefs, the court found in favor of the law school foundation
  • Defended two companies in a suit in federal court in Sherman, Texas, brought by a former officer; the case was ultimately settled through a recovery on our counterclaim and cross-claim
  • Defended a medical school in a suit brought by trustees of a trust seeking a declaratory judgment in the probate court; this was a sizable estate which was settled on very favorable terms
  • Obtained summary judgment for a charity that was a beneficiary of a trust in a suit for declaratory judgment
  • Obtained a favorable ruling for four trade associations in a suit in the federal court in Dallas
  • Represented an attorney to recover legal fees and defend legal malpractice claims in a lengthy arbitration proceeding; a very favorable award was obtained, which has now been affirmed by a federal court judgment
