Hassan Yassine serves as the Firm’s Algiers Office Leader and supports clients wishing to do business in Africa and the Middle East as well as clients from those regions wishing to do business with U.S. companies. He represents public and private companies and host governments in their strategic design, commercial execution, negotiations, contract preparation, and legal interpretation.

  • Sonatrach, Corporate Director of Negotiations and Legal Affairs, 1990-2002, corporate legal manager responsible for legal and commercial negotiations; responsible for the design, preparation, and negotiation of all upstream-related contracts, including international affairs of Sonatrach; responsible for legal services to the marketing and downstream (LNG and petrochemical) divisions; legal advisor to the state administrative entities and state mining company for the development and negotiations of hard mineral investment contracts; leader of the committee that prepared the Hydrocarbon Law of 1991 and a participant in the preparation of the proposed Hydrocarbon Law; assisted other African countries in the preparation of hydrocarbon laws and contracts; member of Executive Committee
  • Ministry of Industry and Energy (currently Ministry of Energy and Mines), 1971-1990, Senior Legal Director for all legal affairs (contract, litigation, and regulation) of the Ministry; (appointment made by decree of the government of Algeria; leader of the drafting committee for the Electricity Law and Hydrocarbon Law of 1986
