Janelle L. Davis is a trial lawyer and trusted counselor who serves as the Firm’s Assistant General Counsel and provides legal advice to the Firm’s attorneys on a variety issues related to legal ethics. She also manages the review and conflicts analysis for all new business and lateral hires; works with the records management team to ensure the efficient intake, retention, and destruction of records; and provides internal training regarding confidentiality, ethics, and conflicts of interest.

In addition to her work as Assistant General Counsel, Janelle has tried numerous jury cases, in both civil and criminal court, and she has advised clients on matters involving advertising, aviation, products liability, and other complex commercial disputes, including class actions and regulatory compliance. Janelle has extensive experience counseling clients on how to reduce legal risk and in managing litigation, including coordination with national and discovery counsel, expert witnesses, and trial counsel.

  • Provided advice regarding legality of claims made in advertising materials and on social media
  • Prepared model social media policy for company’s handling of employee and consumer social media activity
  • Provided advice regarding contract terms to transactional attorneys during negotiation of loan agreements
  • Served as jurisdictional counsel managing large docket of cases in Texas, Oklahoma, and Nebraska for pharmaceutical company in national hormone therapy litigation
  • Represented a manufacturer in direct and indirect purchaser putative class actions and federal regulatory proceedings regarding an alleged conspiracy to fix prices
  • Represented food product manufacturer in multiple alleged nationwide and statewide class actions related to false and misleading advertising for various products
  • Negotiated favorable settlement of personal injury case against U.S. airline in case involving allegations of negligence in maintenance of airport jet bridge
  • Defended national men’s footwear and accessories company against negligence, strict products liability, and breach of warranty claims involving alleged injuries resulting from the wear of company’s shoes
  • Research and briefing regarding recoverable damages in products liability case involving engine manufacturer; summary judgment obtained for manufacturer
  • Representation of medical device manufacturer in regional cases involving mesh products
  • Representation of pharmaceutical company in national hormone therapy litigation
  • Obtained defense verdict in representation of major U.S. air carrier in federal court jury trial arising out of wrongful death claim brought by family of decedent
