Murtuza Hussain represents public and private companies on the tax aspects of mergers and acquisitions, financings, and joint venture transactions, as well as all other aspects of transactional tax matters and planning. He also has significant experience in private equity fund formation, advising on state and local tax matters, and representing clients in tax controversy matters.

  • Represented a private equity sponsor in the tax aspects of the $1.6 billion sale of a midstream company equity investment
  • Represented a private equity sponsor focused on the upstream and midstream sectors of the oil and gas industry in connection with the tax aspects of the formation of various private equity funds
  • Represented a private equity sponsor in the tax aspects of the $325 million sale of the owner and operator of a multipart crude oil and frac sand logistics system originating in the heart of the Delaware Basin
  • Represented a registered investment advisor and its affiliates in the tax aspects of the formation and fundraising of its third investment fund, which is structured as dual working interest/NPI funds
