Tim Hudson is a Partner in Thompson & Knight’s Trial Practice Group in Dallas.  He specializes in defending, preparing, and trying cases involving product liability, business litigation, and trade secrets.

He has been recognized by numerous publications for his outstanding legal work, including D Magazine’s “Best Lawyers in Dallas” and Texas Rising Stars® by Thomson Reuters.

Tim also serves as the Chair of Thompson & Knight’s Lawyer Development Committee, assisting in the implementation of programs and initiatives relating to attorney training, development, feedback, and leadership.

  • Conducted depositions of plaintiffs, plaintiffs’ experts; argued discovery, dispositive and other pre-trial motions; defended corporate employees for deposition and trial
  • Served on MDL discovery and expert work up teams
  • Secured defense verdict in product liability trial for medical device manufacturer in Missouri state court (case settled following appeal)
  • Secured defense verdict in product liability trial for medical device manufacturer in U.S. District Court, Florida
  • Secured defense verdict in product liability trial for medical device manufacturer in U.S. District Court, Arkansas
  • Served as co-trial counsel for medical device manufacturer in Florida state court trial, securing favorable settlement before closing arguments
  • Representing a global security and aerospace company in a case involving claims of fraud and violations of federal regulations
  • Secured dismissal of hospital in lawsuit alleging claims of defamation and tortious interference with contract
  • Secured favorable settlement for legal research provider in case involving claims of breach of contract and fraud
  • Secured dismissal of all claims against private educational system in Illinois state court against claims approaching $10 million
  • Successfully represented national telecommunications company in a lawsuit involving claims for business disparagement, breach of contract, and fraudulent inducement to contract
  • Successfully represented national bank against claims of breach of fiduciary duty, fraud, negligence, and breach of contract in state court
  • Secured defense verdict at trial for commercial shopping center tenant in state court against breach of contract claims
  • Obtained temporary restraining order on behalf of a national transportation company causing competitor to cease contacts with certain customers

  • Vice-Chair – State Bar of Texas Trade Secrets Committee
  • Representing oil and gas exploration company in trade secrets lawsuit relating to methods and formulas for identifying profitable acreage
  • Represented thermal processing company in claims for trade secret theft against a former employee
  • Represented medical device manufacturer in federal court lawsuit involving claims of theft of trade secrets
  • Defended national jewelry retailer in state court litigation involving claims for misappropriation of trade secrets
  • Defended a nutritional supplement company in Florida state court litigation involving claims of misappropriation of trade secrets and breach of contract
  • Defended a national gas manufacturer in state court litigation involving claims for injunctive relief, misappropriation of trade secrets, violations of Texas Theft Liability Act, and breach of contract
  • Defeated efforts by an opposing party in a trade secret and non-competition case to enjoin our client from competing
  • Assisted in the defense of a leading wireless handset manufacturer and telecommunications infrastructure-equipment company in a patent infringement lawsuit relating to cellular transmission protocols in the Eastern District of Texas; obtained jury verdict of non-infringement and invalidity of all asserted patent claims
