Wilson Jones chairs the Firm’s Healthcare Practice Group and focuses his practice exclusively in healthcare, with an emphasis on compliance and investigations, health industry transactions, and federal and state regulatory, administrative, and litigation-related matters. Wilson has assisted clients in preventing and responding to investigations, managing Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement issues, analyzing arrangements under state and federal fraud and abuse statutes, and establishing and maintaining compliance programs.

According to Chambers USA 2016, Wilson is “one of the finest healthcare lawyers in Dallas” and “is extremely knowledgeable and very tactful, which is very important, especially with sensitive internal investigations.”

His corporate and transactional practice includes merger and acquisition transactions in the hospital, long-term care, and pharmaceutical industries, as well as transactions involving medical group practices, assisted living facilities, ambulatory surgery centers, joint ventures, management services organizations, physician practice management companies, managed care organizations, and a variety of other healthcare entities.

Wilson also provides legal counsel on health industry operational issues. He has experience drafting and negotiating contracts and operational documents, including corporate organizational documents and service and employment agreements for healthcare providers of all types. He provides legal counsel on all aspects of physician-hospital relationships and has extensive experience with peer review proceedings.

  • Represented clients in numerous audits and all aspects of both small and large-scale investigations, from initial document productions to settlement discussions with the government—including the preparation of legal and fact-based arguments to be presented to government on a broad range of fraud and abuse issues
  • Represented large hospital systems with analysis related to various complex compliance, operational, and healthcare regulatory issues, including coding and billing, licensure and certification, privacy, physician relationships, contracts, and medical staff matters
  • Represented hospital systems in drug diversion investigations and DEA audits
  • Represents national hospital system in acquisition and divestiture transactions involving hospitals, ASCs, and physician practices
  • Represented national healthcare contracting services company in state drug-pricing investigation
  • Represented large hospital system in state investigation related to alleged restraint of trade in managed-care contracting practices
  • Represented large hospital system in state investigation related to drug pricing and formulary practices
  • Represented national healthcare company in coordinated federal and state fraud and abuse investigations related to hospital and home-health operations
  • Represented clients in negotiations with the Department of Justice in Washington, D.C., U.S. Attorneys’ Offices, State Attorney General’s Offices, and agents from the FBI, FDA, DEA, HHS Office of Inspector General, Texas HHSC, and state Medicaid Fraud Control Units
  • Assisted clients in analyzing and enforcing various physician agreements, including recruiting agreements, employment agreements, service agreements, and leases
  • Served as a hearing officer in numerous hospital medical staff peer review proceedings
  • Served on a AAA arbitration panel in a dispute with complex healthcare issues
