Peter Sloan is a highly experienced senior international upstream lawyer and recognized figure within the London oil and gas legal world. He has extensive experience conducting negotiations at the most senior level with co-venturers, financial institutions, governments, and NOCs. Peter has had significant experience serving as in-house counsel at various multinational oil and gas companies, and in these roles he managed numerous acquisitions; financings; and major governmental and joint venture agreements, including governmental concessions/PSAs, operating agreements, A+D and farmout agreements, bank facilities, and oil and gas services contracts. He has been involved with oil and gas projects in the African region for more than 15 years, making him uniquely qualified to handle the complex issues that arise with global energy projects.

    • Deputy General Counsel and General Counsel, London, 2011-2015; management of legal advice to all aspects of Tullow Oil’s business through four direct regional GC reports in London, Cape Town, Ghana, and Uganda 
    • Group Legal Manager, London, 2009-2010; responsible for management of group legal advice service for Tullow Oil plc with particular input on the Ghana Jubilee Field and Uganda Lake Albert Basin projects
    • General Counsel, Africa Region – Cape Town, 2007-2009; managed legal aspects of Tullow Oil’s African oil and gas business units including Gabon, Ghana, Namibia, Tanzania, and Uganda
