Overview

The Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) operates the electric grid and manages the deregulated market in much of Texas. Thompson & Knight has extensive experience in the ERCOT market, including the stakeholder process and related rulemakings and projects at the Public Utility Commission of Texas (PUCT). Our attorneys represent clients in key policy matters that affect the transmission grid within ERCOT as well as the competitive wholesale and retail markets. Thompson & Knight’s attorneys played a significant role in electric deregulation nearly two decades ago, and have been involved in all major market policy issues since that time.
